Tori Kelly Poster

April 3, 2019

One of the new Youtube generation of pop stars, Tori Kelly first made a name for herself by uploading original and cover songs online at the tender age of 14. At 16, she auditioned for American Idol but faced an early elimination. Of course, this didn't stop this talented singer-songwriter, who caught the eye of major labels by recording and releasing her own EP. This DIY aesthetic, along with a penchant for writing her own hook-laden, effervescent pop anthems sets her apart from the auto-tuned crowd.

If there was any justice in the world, John Prine would be a household name. Playing in the Chicago folk scene of the early 70s, Prine was plucked from obscurity by Kris Kristofferson, an endorsement which helped to land him his first recording contract. Bob Dylan is also one of his biggest fans, terming Prine's work "pure Proustian existentialism". He's a singer who trades in life's little details, imbuing everyday existence with a kind of romantic grandeur. Now in his 60s, Prine is still going strong. It may be a while since his last record but he always seems to be on the road. He tends to tour with a very sparse backing band, leaving his words front and centre, just as they should be.

Now the multi-talented producer, writer and actor Tyler Perry is set to don her signature gray wig, glasses and nondescript floral dress for the last time during the 'Madea's Farewell Play Tour', saying a fond goodbye to the tough old lady with a brand new story chock full of laughs and life lessons.
